Come help UW School of Music raise money for Haiti! Tonight at 7pm, at The Crossing, you can donate for a good cause, and enjoy great chamber music. Among the many ensembles that are performing, Eliza’s Toyes will be singing selections from Palestrina’s Canticum Canticorum, and Thomas Ravenscroft’s “Tosse the Pot”. $5 suggested donation at the door.

Saturday, March 6th, 2010Singing a Renaissance Recession
Wednesday, December 9th, 2009The state of Wisconsin (together with several other Midwest states) is stranded by the wild winter storm that’s been hitting us since last night. Yesterday’s snowfall, a hefty 13″, broke Madison’s daily record! While everyone enjoys a snow day, I hope all will clear up tomorrow.
This Sunday, Eliza’s Toyes will be performing a concert of music about the recession–I’m very excited! While some are stretching the theme a bit (selections from Palestrina’s Canticum Canticorum speak of gold, silver, and the beauty of one’s love), other songs address the subject directly (among which are Cara’s lute songs, which lament the unfortunate transaction of love, and a lover’s running out of advanced credit in the business of the hearts). Please come hear us if you are free! Sunday, December 13th, 4:00pm, find us at Gates of Heaven (302 E. Gorham St) in Madison, WI. Admission is free, donation accepted.
